Miami Beach

Miami Beach is a city in Miami-Dade County and was incorporated on March 26, 1915. Miami Beach is located on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. The neighborhood of South Beach, comprised of the southernmost 2.5 square miles of Miami Beach stretching from 1st Street to 25th Street, has been one of America’s pre-eminent beach resorts since the early 20th century. According to the United States Census Bureau, in 2010 the city had a total population of 87,779, and has a total area of 18.7 square miles of which 7.0 square miles of it is land and 11.7 square miles of it is water.

The Art Deco District is one of the largest collections of Art Deco architecture in the worldand comprises hundreds of hotels, apartments and other structures which were erected between 1923 and 1943. The Historic District is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the East, Lenox Court on the West, 6th Street on the South and Dade Boulevard along the Collins Canal to the North. Lincoln Road, running east-west between 16th and 17th Streets, is a nationally known spot for outdoor dining, bicycling, rollerblading and shopping and features art galleries of well known designers, artists and photographers such as Romero Britto, Peter Lik, and Jonathan Adler.

Miami Beach has no shortage of famous resort hotels, luxurious condominiums and homes located on waterfront and non-waterfront properties. Family style homes and waterfront settings and communities are found to the north and west side of South Beach.  There are several different neighborhoods within Miami Beach offering residents a variety of price points, location options, and architecture.
